Medics from the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research in Villejuif, France have analyzed medical data from 10 308 British employees, aged between 35 and 55 years that have taken part in the study between 1985 on and 1988.
The group of smokers was identified at the beginning of the study and once again between 1997 and 1999.
Total 5388 participants were subjected to tests of memory, mind, clearness of expression between 1997 and 1999. 4659 people of this group were tested again 5 years later.
